Dear Camp KEEP staff, I had a very fun experence there. I got to create my club (the chicken homies) with the help of Cubby and Nuggets. I saw a salamander for the first time when Salamander picked up the dead log. I hope to go back in high school and be a counseler. I look foward to seeing you all. Sincerely yours,

I miss Camp KEEP so much! My friends and I wonder everyday when can we go back. I truly felt that this experience has made a really big impact on my knowledge of the environment. I was really shy and I didn't break through to being my full self until Wednesday of our week at KEEP. I miss all of the naturalists dearly and my favorite naturalists were Cricket and Creek they made everything fun for me And I enjoyed all of the activities at KEEP. I hope I can come back and visit you all again and see if you remember me.

Dear Naturalists, I had a great week in camp. I learned so much that my brain hurts. Thank you for teaching me things about the world. The world is a cool place. Know that I learned so much that the world means so much to me now and I want to save the world. Thank you for teaching me the importance of saving the planet. Thank you. Sincerely,
Osvaldo May 2006

Dear Naturalists, I had the best time here. It was so fun. I want to come back for the rest of my life, and hopefully still be as healthy as I am now, and live to be 3,000,000 years old. I would never get bored. Maybe I'd take a holiday on Christmas, my birthday, Easter, etc. Your friend,
Alex May 2006

Dear KEEP I was a counselor at K.E.E.P. and I had an amazing time. The kids were wonderful. The staff was awesome! I will look forward to coming back in the future. All you kids that go to Del Rio, I love you guys, and incoming 6th graders, hopefully I'll see you next year. Thanks,
Brandon, Del Rio Counselor May 2006

Hello KEEP Staff, I went to camp last year, you have my letter on letters to Camp KEEP from years 2004-2005, I want to thank you. Every thing I wrote on the lettter was true. I went to Camp Yeager, which is the same campus, but none of you wonderful KEEP staff was there. I was sad, but just going there made me feel great. I heard from the 6th graders, that went this year that they had much fun. Thank you for treating our school great. We will love you and always remember you for ever. You're the best keep staff ever!! You and your campus will always be remembered.

Our Week
Del Mar Elementary School, April 2006

San Simeon Hike
Emerald pines tower over moist meadows. Thickets encasing them as its own patch of heaven. Deer race through and turkeys gobbling greatly. A treasure lays hidden in the heart of the trees. Winding snake-like through ferns. It rushes through the ocean, glistening in the bright day. The sapphire ripples sparkle like unearthly diamonds. Three and one half miles fill with interests on the San Simeon hike. German Ivy, pregnant deer, scat, berries, lichen, Poison Oak, Monterey Pines, Red-winged Blackbirds, and frogs. Balancing down "the slip and slide" is a blast! We are muddy head to toe.

Mud Flats
It is easy to dig int the mushy, cold mud. A smelly, slippery, slimy experience. Shrimp curl into our fingers and crabs hide in dark crevices. Squishy science in the brown ground.

Moonstone Beach
We find small stones at Moonstone Beach. Watching large Harbor Seals lounge. We are explorers in the sand.

Campfires
At the campfire, we sing by the warm fire with friends. Dancing and clapping in the firelight. Singing 'Live Oak, Live Oak", "Scat", "What's that you say?', "Hey, Hey Bo-Diddly-Bop", "Bubble Gum", and "Red-tail Feather".

Cabins
Our cabins are our homes. Talking, taking pictures, making up skits, and dancing. Laughter is everywhere.

Dear Camp KEEP, Thank you for your time to teach us about ecosystems and science. After I got home I started picking up trash and cleaning around the house! Camp KEEP changed me a lot and I made a lot more friends. I loved the cook's food. It was awesome! The food was so good and appetizing. When I grow up I want to be a biologist. I love animals and their environment. Thank you again. I had a lot of fun! And if a fifth grader asks me if Camp KEEP is worth it, I'll tell them, "yes, you should definately go!!!"
Sarah H.

Dear Camp KEEP, Thank you for all you've done. You've sheltered us, nurtured us and cared for us. Thank you so much. I loved my week at Camp KEEP. Excitement is waiting outside your doorstep! You just have to look for it. Sincerely,
Breanne January 2006
